National Honor Society
Leadership Team Roles & Responsibilities

Noblesse Oblige : “to whom much is given, much is expected”

Founded in 1921 by Edward Rynearson (1862-1932), Principal of Fifth Avenue High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the National Honor Society still recognizes and encourages the ideals of scholarship, character, service, and leadership.  Selection to NHS is a privilege, not a right.  Students do not apply for membership in the National Honor Society;  instead, they provide information to be used by the local selection committee and/or Faculty Council to support their candidacy for membership.  !e society still enjoys the prestige and respect accorded to the most recognized honor society of its kind in the nation.

National Honor Society Chapter Officers
The PRHS Chapter will designate a group of select students to serve as a Leadership Team.  Potential members of the Leadership Team choose to be considered for this honor and are evaluated on six criteria: a personal letter and/or speech of interest, leadership experience and potential, faculty recommendations, chapter vote, NHS Executive Committee recommendations, and school record.  The Executive Committee, or formal officer positions, are appointed by the Faculty Council and the Advisor with input from members-in-good-standing, faculty, and staff.  All Executive Committee
